This Week’s Wedding Announcements
Lillian Tashman and Thomas S. Muffins met seven years ago on a frigid February day at MacIver Muffins Memorial Hospital in Lake Nipples, U.S.A., where Dr. Taschman had recently begun her medical residency. Mr. Muffins’ great-great-grandfather helped establish the hospital in 1874, when it was known as MacIver’s Sanitarium for Unwed Mothers & the Criminally Insane, and his father, Dr. Branford Muffins, currently serves as Chief of Medicine.
“Even though I didn’t follow in my father’s footsteps — choosing instead to follow my dream of becoming a mysterious corporate executive at the largest NFT factory in the greater Lake Nipples area— this hospital is my second home,” said the groom.
Mr. Muffins is a popular sight around the halls of Memorial Hospital, where he can be found most evenings wandering around the children’s ward with a basket of puppies in tow. A lifelong animal lover, the puppies are part of a program Mr. Muffins founded when he was in high school, which rescues them from puppy mills and trains them to be therapy dogs. Seven years ago Mr. Muffins became the youngest executive vice president of factory operations in the entire NFT industry, forcing him to scale down his volunteer hours dramatically.
“I used to be there every night after work, but suddenly I was working late into the night, overseeing the development of top-secret NFTs for the military. so the only time I could really do the puppy visits was during my lunch hour” he said. “At first I was devastated, because a lot of kids died before they got to see the puppies, but once I met Lily, I realized it was a blessing.”
Unlike her fiance, Lilian Tashman did somewhat follow in her father’s footsteps, becoming a doctor at the same hospital where Dr. Richard Taschman has practiced colorectal surgery for the past 30 years.
“He’s a rockstar in the colorectal world,” said the bride. “It’s a tough act to follow, and I wanted to make my own legacy. That’s why I became a general hospital doctor. I give checkups, deliver babies, conduct medical trials, some light neurosurgery here and there — a little bit of everything.”
Dr. Tashman’s residency schedule kept her on the day shift, which is how she and Mr. Muffins crossed paths.
“I was performing emergency surgery on a child that looked as if had been in some sort of industrial accident, and in walks Tom with a basket of puppies,” she said. “It was hard not to fall in love immediately.”
The next day Tom returned during his lunch hour, sans puppies, and took Dr. Tashman on a date in the hospital cafeteria.
“Tom might be a rich executive with a family fortune worth billions, but he’s still the type of guy who loves a grilled cheese sandwich and a Diet Coke at a crummy coffee shop,” said Dr. Tashman. “He makes everything magical. He’s almost too good to be true.”
The pair became engaged last year on their 6th anniversary, and will be wed on their 7th anniversary this Saturday, Feb. 12th, at the Cathedral of St. Longinus in Lake Nipples’ historic district. They will be honeymooning in the groom’s ancestral Scotland.
